Meccano

We've teamed up with leading construction toy brand Meccano to promote creative learning among young people aged six to 10½ years old.
Sponsoring Creative Challenges
At the heart of our partnership are the Beaver Creative Activity and the Cub Creative Challenge badges, sponsored by Meccano. In these, Beavers and Cubs are invited to complete a number of creative activities, including creating their own individual, unique and personalised models, built exclusively using pieces of Meccano.
There will also be creative alternatives for those unable to get their hands on Meccano, including writing short stories, designing their own machines, and building bridges out of everyday items.

About Meccano
Meccano was invented by Frank Hornby (think Hornby train sets) over 100 years ago, and has been a firm favourite among children and adults ever since. Now for the 21st Century, Meccano’s modern incarnation is packed full of challenges to test young people's creativity.
The toys have many fans of all ages, including Top Gear presenter and Scout birthday badge recipient James May, who holds the world record for the largest bridge ever built out of Meccano pieces. Meanwhile the largest model of any kind is a giant Ferris wheel in the United States weighs 1,200 lbs and took 1,239 hours to build.
